About Bell Canyon Montessori
Our History
Bell Canyon Montessori was originally established in 1977 by the Widmer family in Sandy. It was among the first few Montessori schools in the area and in Utah as a whole. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, our school was built with the highest standards of early education and safety in mind. When you visit our school, you will notice secure entry leads to our three spacious classrooms, a lunchroom, a nap room, and a beautiful backyard play area.
When the Widmer family came to retirement in 2014, the school ownership was transferred to business partners Stephen Brown and Michael Franz– both of whom were current parents of children who attended the school. They fell in love with the close-knit community at Bell Canyon and the nurturing, kind, and safe environment the school provided for each of their children to learn and grow. With their collective passion for Montessori education and family values, they along with their team continue to provide a quality Montessori education for students of all ages.
Our Mission Statement
At Bell Canyon, our mission is to nurture your child’s full potential. We accomplish this by encouraging the child’s independence as a learner, to have comfortable and productive peer relations, to learn basic skills and concepts necessary for intellectual development, to be aware of and to organize their environment in terms of his or herself, and most importantly, to kindle a lifelong love of learning. With our teachers cultivating customized instruction and getting to know each child’s learning style and abilities, we aim to prepare the child not only for educational success, but also success in every aspect of life.
